Understanding Your Reports & Business Insights

Lawnager's Reports section gives you a real-time look at how your business is performing — from total revenue to crew productivity to customer retention. This article walks you through each report type and how to get the most out of them.

Where to Find Reports

From the left sidebar, click Reports. You'll see four report categories across the top:

  • Overview
  • Financial
  • Crew & Payroll
  • Customer Metrics

Each section has its own set of data and filters. Use the date range picker in the top-right corner to narrow results to a specific time period.

Overview Report

The Overview report is your business snapshot. It surfaces top-level KPIs so you can quickly assess the health of your operation.

What you'll see here:

  • Total jobs completed vs. scheduled
  • Revenue collected vs. outstanding
  • Active customers
  • Open quotes and their total value

Tip: The Overview report pulls the same KPIs shown on your Dashboard. If you want a quick pulse-check without digging into specifics, your Dashboard works just as well.

Financial Report

The Financial report is where you track money in and out.

Key data points include:

  • Gross revenue by date range
  • Payments broken down by method (Stripe, cash, check, Venmo)
  • Outstanding invoice balances
  • Taxes collected
  • Refunds and dispute resolutions

How to export financial data:

  1. Go to Reports → Financial
  2. Set your desired date range
  3. Click Export in the top-right corner
  4. Choose CSV to open in Excel or Google Sheets

Common pitfall: Revenue figures in Lawnager reflect invoiced amounts, not necessarily collected amounts. Keep an eye on the Outstanding line to catch unpaid invoices before they age too long.

Crew & Payroll Report

The Crew & Payroll report helps you understand how your team is spending their time and what it's costing you.

You'll find:

  • Hours logged per crew member (pulled from field app check-in/out)
  • Jobs completed per crew member
  • Average job duration
  • GPS activity summary

How to view a specific crew member's data:

  1. Go to Reports → Crew & Payroll
  2. Click the Crew Member dropdown
  3. Select the individual you want to review
  4. Adjust the date range as needed

Tip: Use this report alongside the Crew field app check-in data to verify hours before running payroll. If a crew member forgot to check out, their hours may appear inflated — you can correct this directly in the Jobs section.

Customer Metrics Report

The Customer Metrics report helps you understand your customer base and spot opportunities to grow or recover revenue.

Key metrics include:

  • Total active vs. inactive customers
  • Average revenue per customer
  • Customer retention rate
  • Top customers by revenue
  • Service request volume

How to identify your highest-value customers:

  1. Go to Reports → Customer Metrics
  2. Scroll to the Top Customers table
  3. Click any column header to sort (e.g., sort by Total Revenue descending)

This list is a great starting point when building a Marketing Campaign — you can target top spenders for upsells or send re-engagement offers to inactive customers.

Tips for Getting the Most from Reports

  • Run reports monthly to catch trends before they become problems (e.g., rising outstanding balances or dropping job completion rates).
  • Combine reports — cross-reference the Financial and Crew & Payroll reports to understand your labor cost as a percentage of revenue.
  • Share with your accountant by exporting the Financial report as a CSV before tax season. If you use QuickBooks, sync your data via Settings → Integrations → QuickBooks instead.
  • Reports only reflect data within Lawnager. Jobs or payments recorded outside the app won't appear here.
