Portal Invites & Verification
Inviting Customers to the Portal
There are three ways customers get access to their portal:
- •Automatic welcome — When you add a new customer with portal access enabled, a welcome message is sent automatically (if the Customer Welcome automation is on)
- •Manual invite — Click the
...menu on any customer → Send Portal Invite - •Share the link — Click
...→ Open Portal to view it yourself, then share the URL
Portal Verification
For security, customers must verify their identity the first time they visit:
- •They click their portal link
- •A "Verify your identity" screen appears
- •They click "Send verification code"
- •A 6-digit code is sent to their email and/or phone on file
- •They enter the code
- •Access is granted for 30 days (via a secure cookie)
After verification, customers can access the portal freely for 30 days without re-verifying.
Customizing the Invite Message
Go to Settings → Templates to edit the Customer Welcome and Portal Invite templates. Use merge tags like {{customer_name}}, {{business_name}}, and {{portal_link}}.
Test Mode
Portal invites go through the standard notification pipeline. When Test Mode is enabled in Settings → Notifications, invite messages redirect to your test address instead of the customer.
