Marketing Campaigns & Automations
Lawnager's built-in marketing tools let you reach customers with targeted campaigns and set up automations that run in the background — so you can focus on the work, not the inbox.
Where to Find Marketing
From the left sidebar, click Marketing. You'll see three tabs:
- •Campaigns — one-time sends to a customer list
- •Automations — triggered messages based on customer actions or timing
- •Activity Log — a record of every message sent
Sending a Campaign
Campaigns are great for seasonal pushes (spring cleanups, aeration, holiday lighting) or re-engaging customers you haven't heard from in a while.
- •Go to Marketing → Campaigns and click New Campaign.
- •Enter a Campaign Name (internal use only — customers won't see this).
- •Choose your Audience. You can filter by:
- •All customers
- •Active customers
- •Inactive customers (no jobs in a set number of days)
- •Customers with a specific service type
- •Select a Template or write your message from scratch. To manage saved templates, go to Settings → Templates.
- •Choose your Send Method — email, SMS, or both.
- •Click Send Now or schedule it for a future date and time using Schedule Campaign.
Tip: Use the Activity Log tab after sending to confirm delivery and see open/click activity.
Setting Up Automations
Automations send messages automatically when a specific trigger happens — no manual work required after setup.
- •Go to Marketing → Automations and click New Automation.
- •Give the automation a name, then choose a Trigger. Common triggers include:
- •Quote sent but not approved (after X days)
- •Job marked complete
- •Customer hasn't booked in X days
- •Review request (after job completion)
- •Set the Delay — how long after the trigger fires before the message is sent.
- •Write your message or select a template.
- •Toggle the automation Active and click Save.
The automation will now run automatically for any customer who meets the trigger conditions.
Tip: The Quote follow-up automation is one of the highest-ROI automations you can enable. Set it to fire 2–3 days after a quote is sent to catch customers who forgot to respond.
Using the Activity Log
The Activity Log shows a timestamped record of every campaign message and automation message sent from your account.
Use it to:
- •Confirm a specific customer received a message
- •Troubleshoot a campaign that didn't seem to send
- •Review how often automations are firing
You can filter the log by date range, customer name, or message type.
Common Pitfalls
- •Missing contact info: Campaigns skip customers who don't have an email or phone number on file. Review your customer list under Customers and fill in any gaps before sending.
- •Overlapping automations: If you have multiple automations targeting inactive customers, they can stack up. Check the Activity Log to make sure customers aren't being over-messaged.
- •Templates not saving correctly: Always click Save Template inside Settings → Templates before starting a new campaign — templates created mid-campaign aren't stored for future use.
Notifications & Test Mode
Before launching your first campaign, it's worth running a test. Go to Settings → Notifications and enable Test Mode — messages will route to your own contact info instead of customers so you can preview exactly what they'll receive.
Turn off Test Mode before going live.
With campaigns and automations working together, Lawnager can handle your follow-ups and seasonal outreach on autopilot — helping you book more jobs without adding more admin time to your day.
