Get on Google: Setting Up Your Google Business Profile

Show up on Google Maps and Search — Lawnager walks you through setting up a free Google Business Profile step by step.

Last updated September 20, 2026

When a homeowner needs their lawn cut, the first place they look is Google — Maps and Search. If your business doesn't have a Google Business Profile, you're invisible in the spot where most of your future customers are looking. It's free, and Lawnager walks you through it.

Where to find it

Go to Settings → Get on Google. The page is a guided setup — numbered steps, with the exact details to paste and a direct link into Google at each point. You don't need to have touched Google's business tools before.

What the setup covers

  1. Start on Google — the page first checks whether your business already shows up on Google. If it does, you claim the existing profile instead of creating a duplicate. If it doesn't, you follow the link to create one.
  2. Paste your details — Lawnager shows your business name, phone, service area, and hours formatted the way Google's forms want them, so you can copy and paste instead of retyping.
  3. Add photos — profiles with real photos of your work get far more attention than empty ones. A few phone photos of clean stripes, edged walks, and finished beds are plenty.

Google will ask you to verify that you own the business — follow their verification step when prompted. Until you verify, the profile won't show publicly.

After you're on Google

Two things in Lawnager get better once your profile is live:

  • Send review requests to Google. In Settings → Notifications, set your review destination to Google Reviews. After you complete a job, happy customers get pointed at your Google profile — and reviews are what move you up in local search.
  • Connect the profile to your directory listing. In Settings → Public Profile, use Find my Google profile to link it. Your star rating and review count then show on your Lawnager directory listing, and listings with reviews rank higher on their city page.

Why bother

Reviews compound. Every review makes the next homeowner's decision easier, moves you up in "lawn care near me" searches, and now also improves your Lawnager directory placement. Fifteen minutes of setup keeps paying you back all season.
