Customizing the Messages Lawnager Sends Your Customers

Every email and text Lawnager sends on your behalf — invoices, reminders, review requests — can be edited to sound like you. Merge tags fill in the details.

Lawnager sends a lot of messages for you — invoice emails, job reminders, arrival alerts, review requests. Out of the box they're professional and neutral. With ten minutes in Settings → Message Templates, they sound like you instead.

What's there

Templates are grouped in two sections:

  • Transactional messages — triggered by your workflow: sending an invoice, a job reminder, a completion notice, a payment reminder.
  • Marketing messages — used by campaigns and automated outreach sequences.

Each template can have an email version and an SMS version — edit either or both. Templates you've changed show a Customized badge so you can see at a glance what's yours versus stock.

Editing a template

  1. Open the template and edit the text.
  2. Use merge tags to drop in the live details — customer name, amount due, service date, your business name. Click Insert merge tag to see what's available; the tag is replaced with the real value on every send.
  3. Keep an eye on the SMS character counter: texts over 160 characters send as multiple segments (each segment counts against your SMS credits), so shorter is cheaper.

What to actually change

  • Sign with a name. "— Mike, Sunset Lawn" outperforms a corporate sign-off every time. You're a person, not a utility company.
  • Payment reminders: friendly beats formal. "Hey, looks like this one slipped through — here's the link" gets checks moving without burning goodwill.
  • Review requests: ask like a human. One sentence about why reviews matter to a small business does more than a polished paragraph.
  • Keep merge tags in place when you rewrite — they're what make each message personal at scale.

Related

  • Your logo and brand color (Settings → Branding) appear on emails automatically — set those first.
  • When these messages send is controlled in Automations (timing, channels, on/off per event); templates control what they say. Automation emails also have an AI rewrite button if you want a fresh draft to start from.
