How to price fence installation
Fencing is priced per linear foot installed. Chain link is the cheapest ($10–$30/ft), wood and vinyl sit in the middle ($18–$60/ft), and aluminum and composite run highest ($30–$85/ft). Taller fences cost more per foot — an 8-ft fence runs ~1.3× a standard 6-ft.
Add for terrain (slopes and rocky soil slow post-setting), gates, removal and disposal of old fence, and permits. Always set a project minimum so short runs stay profitable.

How much does fence installation cost per foot?⌄
Installed: chain link $10–$30/ft, wood $18–$45/ft, vinyl $25–$60/ft, aluminum $30–$70/ft, and composite $35–$85/ft. Taller fences and gates add to the total.
What makes a fence job more expensive?⌄
Material and height set the base; sloped or rocky terrain, gates, old-fence removal, and permits push it up. Rocky soil that slows post-setting is a common surprise cost.
